Student Visa & Study Permit

Study in Canada — done right the first time, with admission to a Canadian institution and a study permit that holds up.

Student Visa & Study Permit
Overview

A study permit is more than a form: refusal rates are high when funds, intent and study plans aren’t presented convincingly. I help from choosing and getting into the right program through to a study-permit application built to be approved.

FAQ

Student Visa & Study Permit — questions & answers

Why are study permits refused, and can a refusal be fixed?

Study permits are most often refused over funds, study plan, or ties to the home country not being presented convincingly. A refusal can be addressed by a stronger fresh application or, where the decision was unreasonable, by judicial review at the Federal Court. A lawyer can tell you which route fits.

How much money do I need for a Canadian study permit?

You must show enough to cover tuition and living costs, and the funds must be presented as genuine and available. It is not only the amount but how the source and availability of funds are documented that determines approval — a common reason applications fail.

Can I extend my study permit from inside Canada?

Yes. A study permit can be extended from within Canada before it expires, provided you remain enrolled and eligible. Applying on time and keeping your status valid is important, and a lawyer can help if your situation is complicated by a program change or a gap.

Can a study permit lead to permanent residence?

Yes. A Canadian education plus post-graduation work experience can build a strong Express Entry or provincial nominee profile. Planning the study-to-PR pathway from the start — including program and location choices — makes that transition far smoother.
